【英语财经】中资企业投资英国生物质能发电站 Green power station scheme attracts ￡2bn Chinese funding

The latest large-scale Chinese-backed project in the UK is a green power station in Wales whose energy would be used grow thousands of tonnes of prawns, fish and salad.

The ambitious scheme to turn disused industrial sites at Anglesey and Port Talbot into two “eco parks” has attracted ￡2bn of Chinese money, according to the developers.

The 299-megawatt combined heat and power station would generate electricity from imported plant waste. The electricity would power lighting and homes while the excess heat would be used to warm indoor ponds with seafood and hydroponic crop-growing.

Orthios Eco Parks says it signed a deal with SinoFortone in August to fund the schemes. Planning permission has been granted in Anglesey, where Rio Tinto, owner of a disused aluminium smelter, is expected to sell the site within months, according to the company.

The Port Talbot site is owned by ABP, the port operator.

SinoFortone has also pledged ￡100m towards a ￡3.2bn theme park at Ebbsfleet in Kent.

The announcement coincides with the state visit of President Xi Jinping, who is being given a shopping list of projects by a British government anxious for Chinese capital.

However, several promised investments have fallen through or been delayed when Chinese partners failed to deliver. These include a plan to recreate the Crystal Palace in London and for a global trade centre on the Wirral.

塔尔伯特港用地由港口运营商ABP所有。

中富还承诺为英国肯特郡Ebbsfleet一个32亿英镑的主题公园投资1亿英镑。

这份声明正值中国国家主席习近平对英国展开国事访问，急于获得中国资金的英国政府正向习近平提供一份“项目购买清单”。

然而，由于中方合作伙伴未能履行承诺，多个已承诺的投资项目已告吹或延迟，其中包括伦敦水晶宫(Crystal Palace)重建计划以及威勒尔(Wirral)的全球贸易中心项目。
