Fan Bingbing, 32, is one of the world's most successful actors. She starred in the Chinese TV series Princess Pearl as a teenager and started her own studio in 2007. Last year she played the lead in Double Xposure, which took more than Rmb100m (GBP10.3m) in mainland China. She tops the Forbes China Celebrity 100 list.
What was your earliest ambition? When I was 12 years old it was already my dream to become an actress. To experience other people's joys and sorrows by playing their lives fascinates me. Elite school or state school? University or straight into work? I studied acting at Shanghai Xie Jin Film and Television Art College. I was determined to enrol there but my mother was opposed to the idea. She thought girls should keep their heads down and go to university but eventually she relented. I began to work when I came out of the college at 16 and started getting parts in TV shows. Who was or still is your mentor? Many directors and actors I have worked with and also my mother. Ambition or talent: which matters more to success? They are both equally important. The most important thing is to have very strong determination and to always keep your eyes on your goal. Have you ever taken an IQ test? No. Do you consider your carbon footprint? Because of my work I am always flying but I try my best to do small things like separating my rubbish and conserving water. Do you have more than one home? My home is wherever my parents and relatives are. I don't yet have my own family. What would you like to own that you don't currently possess? I want to increase my knowledge and improve myself. I would like to go to the UK and study art. What's your biggest extravagance? Nourishing facial skin masks. I apply two every day. In a year that's more than 700. In what place are you happiest? With my family. When I go to interesting places I take my parents when I can. Just seeing them makes me happy and makes me feel that all my hard work is worth it. What ambitions do you still have? I really hope I can play all kinds of characters and I especially have always wanted to try acting the part of a gay person or a schizophrenic. What drives you on? My family and fans of my movies. I want to provide my parents and my younger brother with carefree and happy lives. My enthusiasm for my acting career and the support from my fans provides the engine for me to accelerate, to always look forward to my next role. What is the greatest achievement of your life so far? A charity project called Heart Ali. Looking back at how more and more children have been helped, it feels a bit like writing a diary - one page a day does not feel like much but after some time you hold it and, wow, you realise that it is already very thick. I think this is the feeling of achievement. What has been your greatest disappointment? I don't have any disappointments in my work. I don't have enough spare time and can't spend a lot of time with family and friends. I wouldn't really call this disappointment but, rather, a bit of regret. If your 20-year-old self could see you now, what would she think? It pays to be persistent. If you lost everything tomorrow, what would you do? After being tempered by 17 years of experience in this industry, I have learnt to be calm and steady so when things happen I don't panic. I also know that my family and friends will always support me so there is nothing to be afraid of. Do you believe in an afterlife? No. I believe we just have one life. If you had to rate your satisfaction with your life so far, out of 10, what would you score? Definitely 10! 你最初的抱负是什么？ 12岁的时候，我就已经梦想着要成为一名演员。通过演绎别人的生活来体验他们的喜怒哀乐让我着迷。 精英学校还是公立学校？上大学还是直接工作？ 我曾在上海师范大学谢晋影视艺术学院(Shanghai Xie Jin Film and Television Art College)学习表演。我曾一心想进入这所学校，但遭到我母亲的反对。她认为女孩子要低调、上大学，但最终她还是让步了。我16岁时一毕业就工作了，开始在电视剧中扮演角色。 你过去和现在都有哪些导师？ 我合作过的很多导演和演员以及我的母亲。 抱负和天赋：哪一个对成功更重要？ 这两个都非常重要。最重要的是有着强烈的决心，始终坚持目标不动摇。 你测过智商吗？ 没有。 有没有考虑过自己的碳足迹？ 因为工作原因，乘飞机是家常便饭，但我总是尽最大努力从小事做起，比如将垃圾分类、节约用水。 你有几个家？ 父母和亲戚在哪里，哪里就是我的家，但现在我还没有组建自己的家庭。 你现在想拥有但还没有得到的是什么？ 我想增加自己的知识面并改善自我。我想去英国学习艺术。 你最大的奢侈品是什么？ 营养面膜。我每天敷两个，一年算下来就超过700个了。 你在哪些地方最开心？ 与家人在一起最开心。每次去好玩的地方，我总是尽可能地带上父母。只要看到他们，我就开心，让我觉得所有的辛劳都是值得的。 你现在还有哪些抱负？ 我真心希望我可以扮演各种角色。一直以来，我都希望扮演同性恋或者精神分裂症患者的角色。 推动你前行的力量是什么？ 我的家人和影迷。我想让父母和弟弟过上快乐无忧的生活。我对演艺事业的热爱以及影迷们的支持为我提供了加速前进的动力，让我始终朝着下一个目标努力。 目前你生活中最大的成就是什么？ 是“爱里的心”(Heart Ali)慈善项目。看到越来越多的孩子受到资助，感觉有点儿像在写日记：每天记一页似乎并不多，但一段时间过后，当你捧起日记本的时候，就会意识到已经写得很厚了。我认为，这就是收获的感觉。 让你感到最失望的是什么？ 我在工作中没有丝毫失望。我没有足够的业余时间，所以没有大量的时间与家人和朋友在一起。我认为这不是什么失望，而是一种遗憾。 如果你20岁的时候就能看到现在的自己，会怎么想？ 坚持不懈总会有回报。 如果明天你将失去所有，你会怎么做？ 在演艺界打拼了17年之后，我已经学会镇定沉稳，所以发生什么情况，我都不会惊慌。我知道，家人和朋友会永远支持我，所以我没有什么好害怕的。 你相信来世吗？ 不相信。我认为人只有这一辈子。 如果让你给到目前的生活满意度打一个分数，满分是10分，你会打几分？ 当然是10分！我周围有一些我爱的人和爱我的人。我正在做的就是我想要做的，我有自己的职业，所以没有什么值得抱怨的。 译者/王慧玲 |
