An explosion in eastern China's Nanjing city Wednesday morning didn't occur at a China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. petrol filling station-contrary to a report by state-controlled China Central Television, a Sinopec spokesman said.
The explosion occurred at a nearby liquefied petroleum gas plant, and Sinopec's filling station wasn't affected much by the explosion, Huang Wensheng told Dow Jones Newswires. The explosion's impact was felt across the city, and at least 200 people were injured, according to a Jiangsu news portal. The state-run Xinhua news agency says the Wednesday morning blast occurred at a plastics factory in downtown Nanjing city, and about 100 people were injured, citing witnesses. No other details were immediately available.
