【英语国际】新加坡富豪欲加价收购英超利物浦队

Singapore billionaire Peter Lim is willing to make an improved offer for Premier League club Liverpool FC, after his initial bid of about £300 million ($476 million) was turned down by the board in favor of U.S.-based New England Sports Ventures.

'He is prepared to come up with an improved offer,' a person close to Mr. Lim said Tuesday.

The person, however, didn't give further details on how much the improved offer would be or when the offer would be made.

Mr. Lim made his initial wealth in stockbroking and is known locally as the 'remisier king,' as stockbrokers are sometimes called in Singapore, with a penchant for sports cars.

He is a large shareholder of listed entities Wilmar International Ltd., a major palm oil producer, and retail holdings firm F.J. Benjamin Holdings Ltd.
